Daikin Air-Conditioning officially launched its operations in Cambodia on November 22, 2024, in a grand opening presided over by H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, marking a new milestone for the Japanese company in the country.
“This grand opening represents more than a business expansion; it is a strong affirmation of the confidence that Japanese and other investors place in Cambodia's economic and industrial potential,” stated Minister Vanndy.
Daikin’s operations have already created over 100 jobs, with more opportunities expected as the company expands. Minister Vanndy has asked Daikin to focus on enhancing the technical expertise in air-conditioning for Cambodia's workforce through knowledge and skills transfer, including installers, repairers, and contractors to support energy-efficient building solutions.
"With improving living and lifestyle standards in Cambodia, we are witnessing a rapid rise in demand for electrical appliances, air-conditioners and effective cold chain solutions, especially for the food and agro-industrial sector," he added.
The Minister also noted Daikin’s potential contribution to Cambodia’s ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, urging the company to lead in energy-efficient technologies and green solutions.
He recommended that Daikin consider establishing a local manufacturing facility, collaborating with more local partners, and engaging in joint R&D projects, such as in cold-chain technology.
Daikin, a leading air conditioning brand founded in Japan 100 years ago, is a global leader in climate control technologies, with 349 subsidiaries and over 98,000 employees. With sales and service operations in 170 countries, the company is committed to technological innovation and providing energy-efficient, sustainable solutions to meet the growing demands of its customers.
