Phnom Penh, December 12, 2024 – The Science, Technology and Innovation National Laboratory (STINL) was inaugurated today as a public administration institution, marking its evolution into a key entity to boost Cambodia’s industrial, scientific, and economic development.
Presiding over the innauguration, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, emphasized the STINL’s vital role in ensuring product quality and safety, promoting innovation, and supporting Cambodia’s industrial sector for both domestic and export markets.
“With internationally recognized standards like ISO/IEC 17025 and accreditations from Singapore and Australia, STINL reduces the need for businesses to send product tests abroad, thereby enhancing efficiency and cutting costs," said Minister Vanndy.
The STINL has over 30 years of experience in product testing and analyses before becoming a public administration institution on June 20, 2024. The laboratory’s transformation brings increased autonomy, operational flexibility, and the capacity to expand professional services, including upcoming testing for mechanical, electrical, and electronic products by 2025.
Dr. Yuk Sokunsreiroat, Chief Executive Officer of the STINL, highlighted the institution’s readiness to meet Cambodia's industrial and scientific demands. “Equipped with cutting-edge technology and a skilled team, we are dedicated to fostering innovation, improving standards, and contributing to the sustainable development of Cambodia,” she stated.
The innauguration included open-house visits offering stakeholders, including entreperneurs, producers and exporters a firsthand look at the STINL’s advanced capabilities. Accredited by SAC-SINGLAS (Singapore) and NATA (Australia), the laboratory provides microbiological, food, water, and non-food product testing services that meet global requirements, strengthening Cambodia’s competitiveness in international markets.
Minister Vanndy also encouraged collaboration between the STINL and other laboratories to enhance regional and international recognition of Cambodia’s testing services. “This cooperation will help ensure high standards, consistency, and comparability of results, boosting trust in Cambodia’s testing capabilities,” he added.
STINL’s commitment to transparency and digital transformation was further demonstrated with the launch of its new website, designed to promote research, innovation, and accessible services. The website reflects the institution’s dedication to modernizing public services and fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem. The modernization also features the integration of verify.gov.kh, which enhances trust and reliability in test certificates by enabling easy verification of their accuracy.
STINL aspires to become a leading laboratory that promotes innovation and quality testing and analyses that empower industries, small and medium enterprises to compete nationally and internationally.
