On April 30, 2025, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, the Cambodia-Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA), and with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), organized a knowledge-sharing seminar focused on enhancing investment in Cambodia through intellectual property (IP), the Patent Recognition Program (PRP), and online patent registration.
Held at MISTI, the seminar aimed to strengthen Cambodia’s IP ecosystem by promoting patent protection, recognizing foreign patents, and facilitating innovation commercialization.
“Intellectual property helps protect the rights of inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs and encourages the development of new ideas and technologies. It plays an crucial role in promoting the flow of creativity and attract more investment,” said H.E. Phok Sovannarith, Secretary of State at MISTI.
The event also explored strategies to attract foreign direct investment through IP promotion, with insights from the Cambodia Investment Committee and experts who shared best practices and lessons from Korea’s own economic transformation.
Since its establishment in Cambodia in 1994, KOICA has trained 4,179 Cambodian officials in Korea, contributing significantly to technology transfer and capacity building.
