H.E. HEM Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, on February 4, 2025 received a delegation from the Malaysian Embassy to Cambodia, led by Ambassador ONN Shaharuddin, to discuss enhancing technical cooperation in light of global trade uncertainties.

The Minister said, “In times of global economic tensions and trade wars, ASEAN must bond together to remain resilient, withstand impact, and prosper collectively.”

He also proposed expediting the finalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on science, technology and innovation (STI) cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing its role in advancing industrial development and fostering regional collaboration.

Ambassador Shaharuddin affirmed Malaysia's dedication to promoting regional collaboration through the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP), which enhances human capital development via training, scholarships, and advisory services based on Malaysia's development experiences.

Malaysia is a key partner for Cambodia’s industrial development, with investments in 27 factories, employing over 12,700 workers.
