Phnom Penh, October 19, 2024 – H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), presided over the closing ceremony of the second season of the "Innovative Tech Challenge" organized by CamTech University and supported by Khmer Enterprise.
The program, aimed at fostering technological innovation and entrepreneurship, drew participation from 114 student groups from 20 universities across Cambodia.
In his remarks, Minister Vanndyemphasized the role of innovation in transforming Cambodia from a technology-using country to a technology-producing one. "The progress of Tech-Startups will be a new catalyst for raising the level of national innovation," he said. "This is crucial for achieving Cambodia’s vision of a knowledge-based economy and society."
Minister Vanndy also urged Tech-Startups to seize opportunities in both regional and global markets. "Cambodia’s tech startups should look beyond the domestic market and explore wider opportunities, such as the ASEAN market, with its 680 million population and $4.2 trillion GDP," he noted.
The event highlighted Cambodia's growing ecosystem of Tech-Startups, which play a critical role in modernizing the country's industrial sector, creating jobs in advanced fields such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, and supporting growth of small and medium enterprises.
